Convinced that the mystery which surrounds economics is a smokescreen, the authors want more peole to know how the economy operates and why, so that more of us can find solutions to economic problems. Sections look at the breakdown of how we spend our money, i.e. what percentages go to housing, food, transportation , taxes, etc. It explores why housing is so expensive, government subsidies, Urban Renewal programs, utility costs, a discussion of nuclear energy, food prices, wage issues, costs of transportation and gasoline, health care, military spending, effects of large corporations, and finally what people can do to change the problems. |
