ANNOTATION |
The Discussion Course on Deep Ecology is one part in a series of four discussion courses. The mission of the series is to motivate individuals to examine and transform personal values and habits, to accept responsibility for the earth, and to act on that commitment. The curriculum was written as eight sessions, designed for weekly discussion. Each includes brief readings and accompanying questions and concludes with "Putting it into Practice" for those who desire to do so.
This deep ecology course addresses core values and how they affect the way we view and treat the earth. In light of our knowledge today, what is the appropriate relationship of the human being to the earth? That this relationship must change is clear since certain human-caused trends cannot continue. Two primary indicators, western consumption and worldwide population, are examples. The curriculum was developed for use by community groups, church groups, schools, businesses, and others interested in discussing issues of deep ecology. |
